At Aldridge Borden, we believe in building a strong future for the accounting profession. One way we put this belief into action is through our proud partnership with Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM). Each year, we provide scholarships to deserving accounting students through the Aldridge Borden Scholarship, helping to alleviate financial burdens and support the academic journeys of future accounting leaders.

But our commitment goes beyond financial support. We’ve built a meaningful relationship with AUM’s accounting department, providing mentorship, guidance, and real-world insights to students preparing for careers in the field.

Supporting AUM Accounting Students

The Aldridge Borden Scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding accounting students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a passion for the field. Many of our interns and employees have come from AUM’s exceptional accounting program, bringing fresh perspectives and dedication to our firm. Through this scholarship, we continue to invest in students who show promise and commitment to the profession.

Rhonda Sibley: From AUM Student to Partner and Mentor

A shining example of the success fostered by AUM’s accounting program is Rhonda Sibley, a proud AUM graduate and partner at Aldridge Borden. Rhonda’s journey from student to leader is a testament to the strength of the program and the opportunities it provides. Now, she gives back to her alma mater by mentoring and inspiring the next generation of accountants.

Rhonda has made it her mission to support students through regular involvement with AUM’s Beta Alpha Psi club. Each year, she dedicates her time to speak on topics ranging from career development to practical insights about working in the accounting industry. Her candid advice and wealth of experience help students navigate their career paths with confidence.

Beyond these speaking engagements, Rhonda also represents Aldridge Borden at the annual Meet the Firms event, connecting directly with students, offering guidance, and helping them explore career opportunities.

Rhonda Seay: Educator, Mentor, and Leader

Another key figure in our firm's connection to AUM is Rhonda Seay, a Manager in our Tax Department and a dedicated adjunct professor at AUM. Rhonda plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic experience for accounting students by teaching tax courses and the CPA exam preparation course. Her commitment to helping students succeed goes beyond the classroom—she works closely with them to develop customized plans for passing the CPA exam and advancing their careers.

Rhonda also serves as the Director of AUM’s Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program, where she leads curriculum development and program strategy to prepare graduate students for leadership roles in the profession. Her dual role as an educator and practicing professional bridges the gap between academic theory and real-world application—giving students an unmatched advantage as they prepare for the next phase of their journey.

A Celebration of Scholarship and Impact

This year, during the AUM Scholar/Donor Recognition Luncheon, we had the privilege of sharing a special video featuring Rhonda Sibley. In this heartfelt message, she reflects on how the Aldridge Borden Scholarship serves as an investment in the future of accounting — a way to nurture the talent and potential of students who will go on to make significant contributions to the industry.

The video also highlights stories from past and present scholarship recipients, showcasing the profound impact this support has had on their educational and professional journeys. Additionally, other donors and companies who share our commitment to student success were recognized for their generous contributions.

Continuing Our Commitment

At Aldridge Borden, we see our partnership with AUM not just as an investment in students, but as a contribution to the future strength and integrity of the accounting profession. We are proud to support the next generation of accountants and remain committed to providing opportunities for growth, learning, and career development.
